ABOUT COLLABORATIVE CBT

Our mission is to empower you to make changes in your life now, that will lead to lasting change ahead.

The goal of treatment is for you and your therapist to work as a team to set goals, solve problems, learn skills, and develop more adaptive ways of handling difficult situations. Our hope is to help you help yourself!

There are a variety of principles that we are dedicated to when working with you. We strive to provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based treatment and work with you on what you aim to achieve. This makes for better progress and change!

Above all else, our aim to teach you how to help yourself.

Our work is catered to a teamwork approach, so while the therapist is there to share insights and teach new skills, you are an active member of the process as well.

YOU are the expert of your life

We recognize the strengths of our clients — you are the experts of your lives and you play an important role in therapy. Our objective is to help solve problems and teach you how to solve issues moving forward in a more effective way.

As such, we want you to feel confident that, through our work together, you will become your own therapist. Most importantly, you can be assured that our therapy is provided through a non-judgmental and inclusive lens.

What is “CBT Therapy?”

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that addresses negative thinking loops and unwanted behavior patterns. In CBT, we know that the way you think about the world will impact how you feel and how you feel will impact what you do.

By changing the way we think, and the way we behave, we can change the way we feel!

While CBT is a structured, active approach, Collaborative CBT is just that, collaborative. We will create an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs. We all need different things from our therapy so you and your therapist will be able to discuss this openly and cater your treatment to your specific needs!

“Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change”

~ Jim Rohn

Our Approach to Therapy

At Collaborative CBT, we want to know what is working for you and what you want to see change in treatment. We keep communication open for feedback so you can share with your therapist what you find helpful. This is a key component of CBT therapy and it is what makes our approach unique.

In addition to providing feedback, we will also develop an “action plan.”

This is where we practice skills in session and you will continue practicing for homework. Like all skills, practice makes perfect so the more work you do between sessions, the better you’re likely to feel!

When you are feeling ready to handle issues on your own, your therapist will talk to you about ‘graduating’ from therapy. Graduation is a successful end to treatment and we will work together to get you there!
